Lucy Mandago, the wife of immediate former Governor of Uasin Gishu County Jackson Mandago, on Thursday, August 25 warned women "eyeing" her husband to keep off.

Lucy, however, made the remarks in jest.

She spoke during the swearing-in of new Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii at the Eldoret Sports Club.

Mandago was ineligible to run for another term as governor after serving the maximum two-term limit.

The ex-county chief, however, successfully ran for Senate seat on UDA Party ticket in the August 9, 2022 polls.

"If you were drooling over my husband during his tenure as governor, I wish to tell you that your time is up. He is now fully mine [without any pressing gubernatorial duties]. It hasn't been easy to manage the county. I now thank you, the people of Uasin Gishu County, for returning him back to me," said Lucy.

Mandago, in his speech, thanked Lucy for the support she gave him during his tenure as governor.

"I want to thank my wife Lucy for her support over the last ten years, it has not been easy. When you're a young leader with a young family, you need a strong wife to run the family while you're busy with public life," he said.

Jonathan Bii, the new Governor of Uasin Gishu County, vied on UDA ticket, getting 214,036 votes against independent candidate Zedekiah Buzeki's 127,013 votes.
