Leicester City sack manager Steve Cooper

Leicester City have parted company with First team Manager Steve Cooper following a disappointing start to the Premier League season, leaving the Foxes just two points clear of the relegation zone after 12 matches.

The club confirmed the decision on Sunday, November 24, 2024, less than 24 hours after a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, a game that saw them face their former manager Enzo Maresca, now at the helm of the London club.

Cooper had replaced Maresca in the summer, inheriting a side freshly promoted back to the Premier League after Maresca guided them to the 2023-24 Championship title. However, the team’s performance under Cooper has failed to meet expectations, with just 10 points collected from 12 games.

In a statement, Leicester City expressed gratitude for Cooper's efforts but emphasized the need for immediate action to secure their Premier League status.

"Men's first team training will be overseen by first-team coach Ben Dawson, supported by coaches Danny Alcock and Andy Hughes, as the club begins the process of appointing a new manager, which we hope to conclude as soon as possible," the club announced.

The decision comes amid growing frustration from fans, with many calling for changes after a lackluster start that has seen Leicester struggle to adapt to life in the Premier League.
