Uhuru Kenyatta: Let us pray for peace and unity

Politics
 Former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday, November 16, called for national unity and peace in the country.

He spoke during the consecration and installation of Rt. Reverend Peter Kimani as the new Bishop of Embu Diocese.

The event was attended by President William Ruto, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua among other leaders.

Uhuru urged Kenyans to reject tribalism and embrace harmony.

“Let us pray for peace, pray for unity between leaders and the people, leave behind tribalism, and love one another. We are all Kenyans, and the country cannot prosper if its people are divided,” he said.

Since retiring, Uhuru has largely stayed out of the public eye, making only occasional appearances for diplomatic efforts.

The ceremony was the first time Ruto and Gachagua appeared together publicly since Gachagua’s impeachment.

Gachagua, whose impeachment was upheld by the Senate on October 17, did not speak at the event.

He faced charges, including making controversial remarks about the government and undermining judicial independence.

At the same time, Kindiki also called for peace and unity in the country.
