Reject Ruto's 'rogue' regime, says Karua

Politics
Martha Karua accused President Ruto of having no regard for Kenyans and, with impunity, believes that the people would do nothing about rising injustices.

NARC-Kenya Leader, Martha Karua has said time has now for Kenyans to say enough is enough and resist President William Ruto’s administration, which she described as rogue.

Karua has accused Ruto of suspending the Constitution going by his acts of commission and omission, in addition to allowing unacceptable occurrences in the country top on the list being escalating cases of abductions.

She regretted that the country has completely lost Parliament – both the Senate and National Assembly.

“We have enough resources for our needs but we are sitting idle when they get abused, we are sitting idle when we are being abducted and our rights are violated. It is time to say to Ruto and his rogue regime that enough is enough and remind him, don’t you dare tell us enough is enough… you are just our employee and you stand fired,” Karua uttered.

She said the country cannot be recording cases of abductions by what she claimed to be state agencies, police officers or ununiformed security officers, who not only refuse to identify themselves but do not also state the offence someone has committed.

“The Kenya Kwanza administration came to power on a campaign of lies, deceit, propagated by Ruto and everybody behind him. That is why he can tell us, looking us straight in the eye, there will be no further abductions and then abductions triple,” said Karua, in an interview with Spice FM yesterday.

She accused Ruto of having no regard for Kenyans and, with impunity, believes that the people would do nothing about rising injustices.

“When we elect, always look for the background of the person. There was enough information to show that Ruto and his team were not right… and I mean check everybody, not just those who are asking for presidency, check for your MP and never elect somebody because they are in a party. Elect them because you know about them,” Karua advised.

Karua regretted that Kenyans are now on their own and the country is at a point where people must take action, even as she condemned unending cases of abduction, the latest being that of activist Boniface Mwangi.

“I know there are many other people being picked who do not have networks that can cry out for them and some never return. The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) listed over 60 people missing. We do not know whether they are listed and who else is missing. It could be in the hundreds,” Karua stated.

She said it is time that Kenyans took responsibility to stand together and reclaim the country, noting that she has made a decision to play the part to defend the country.

“What have we become? A country that abducts, tortures and kills its own? A country that is having detention camps? If you cannot guarantee or respect people's right to life and guarantee their liberty, then you do not deserve to be in power. This is a regime Kenyans must get ready to throw out and that can even be before 2027,” she uttered.

Martha Karua condemned unending cases of abduction, the latest being that of activist Boniface Mwangi.

Karua also took a swipe on Parliament saying they have abdicated their roles

For instance, she said that the Senate is regarded as the upper house but did not show any such traits when they were debating on impeachment.

But she was quick to explain her remarks saying it is not exactly about impeached Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua but whether everyone, including him, get justice.

“If you can hold a shambolic show and attend almost 100 percent, and when it is issues affecting Kenyans, including issues about the right to life, liberty, issues that affect Kenyans, bread and butter issues and economic issues, we see parliament not well attended. We see quorum hitches,” she lamented.

And also stated: “I keep saying being in leadership or being elected is not a title deed. You cannot with it a task, do everything including commit murder to remain in power. You can be fired any day. And Ruto and his regime were fired in June. So they know they're using force and illegal means to remain in power.

She said that Ruto has not internalised the constitution, which gives people sovereign power.

"I heard him (Ruto), after the Gen Z riots, say enough is enough. Who is he to tell his employers, the Kenyan people, enough is enough? It is only your employer who can tell you enough is enough, pack and go. So in his head, he is a king. But I want to remind him today that he is a mere employee of the sovereign people of Kenya,” Karua said.

Also of concern to Karua was the fact that Ruto has even defended the Adani deal, and from that, she can only deduce that he has an interest in them.

“Look at him even defending Adani. Adani did not elect him. It is the people of Kenya. Unless if Adani is his mask, and is the one behind all this haste at the airport at KETRACO. He is defending them because he has an interest in them, that is what I deduce. Otherwise, he would be defending his employer, the people of Kenya.”
