Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama has relinquished his position as Chairman of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party.
Muthama is said to be headed to Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) where he will assume the role of a non-MP member of the commission.
This followed his vetting, nomination and subsequent approval by MPs on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
"I have handed over my resignation to the party headquarters. What I'm doing now is handing over to the party secretariat," Muthama said.
The former legislator now awaits approval by the Senate next week before he can assume the role.
The House rules on nomination and approval of PSC commissioners require that both Houses (National Assembly and Senate) approve the names before they are appointed.
Muthama replaces Samuel Chepkonga who resigned from the commission as the male public member ahead of the August 9, 2022 General Election.
A public representative at the PSC is required not to hold any political party position.
