KANU chairman Gideon Moi has withdrawn his candidature to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).
The move was announced through a statement by One Kenya Alliance Spokesperson and KANU Secretary Political Affairs Fredrick Okango on Wednesday.
"Following the initial application by Gideon Moi and his nomination to the position of EALA member of Parliament, Moi would like to thank KANU, OKA and Azimio One Kenya Coalition for the opportunity and trust," said Okango.
The statement further details the reasons for withdrawal saying: "We would like to notify the public that Moi has since withdrawn his candidature so as to give the opportunity to the other candidates. He wishes them the best of luck in their endeavours." said Okango.
EALA is the legislative arm of the East African Community (EAC) and its members serve five-year terms.
ODM party on Wednesday unveiled the names of six nominees to EALA, including Winnie Odinga, Mombasa businessman Suleiman Shahbal, Timothy Bosire, Beatrice Askul, Justus Kizito and Mohammed Diriye.
