Nairobi Governor candidate Johnson Sakaja has revealed that he worked for President Kibaki as a chauffeur in 2017. In an interview with Spice FM Kenya, Sakaja said,
"As a young person and of course you are earning something and you are being utilized, we became close with President Kibaki and he depended on me for a few things. I played a very central role towards the end of his elections ...."
The politician further revealed that he ran many businesses on campus including a salon and Kinyozi and would make Sh5,000 a day. As such,Sakaja managed to purchase a Mercedes Benz worth half a million and an apartment in Yaya Centre by the time he was joining fourth year.
In an interview with comedian Churchill Ndambuki he said,
"Since I had to pay school fees, on campus, I had businesses, I had a salon , I had a kinyozi"
Despite working as a chauffeur and owning many businesses, Sakaja maintained that he deferred from his studies due to lack of school fees. His revelation happens after the Commission For University Education (CUE) revoked his degree from Team University.
Sakaja further revealed that he pursued his degree as an external student at the institution and never presented himself physically in the school.
"I made the decision to pursue the program as an external student . I did my schooling and I finished ...I have a degree, they accredited it and then they started playing the games."
The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate still insists that he will be in the ballot come August despite the drama that surrounds the authenticity of his degree certificate.
