Players in the agricultural sector have lauded The Standard Group (SG) for promoting good farm practices through coverage on its platforms that have scaled up food production in the country.

Kenya Seed Company (KSC) and FMD East Africa acknowledged the transformative role that SG is playing to provide the right information to farmers on the latest and best agriculture practices.

"Our partnership with The Standard Group is a tremendous contribution in providing important information to our farmers that has promoted good agricultural practices," said Fergus Robley, the General Manager FMD that deals in farm machinery.

Informative forums provided by SG, Robley said, is helping farmers embrace agricultural practices such as preserving soil and crop husbandry in a bid to deal with challenges posed by climate change.

"From the information provided through The Standard newspaper, our farmers are able to understand and undertake mitigation measures against the global climate challenges to earn maximum returns from their farming," said Robley.

Speaking during a two-day Golf tournament at Kitale Club that was sponsored by Kenya Seed Company, The Standard Group and FMD, Robley said the partnership of the three firms is bringing significant economic changes.

"While KSC develops the seed and distribute it to farmers, MFD provide machinery that helps them to put the seed in the soil and on other hand, The Standard disseminates vital information on good agricultural practices that farmers should embrace to secure maximum returns from their undertaking," said Robley.

KSC Managing Director Fred Oloibe saluted the media, saying it has been active in promoting agriculture and especially sensitising farmers on recommended farm inputs.

"We appreciate the role played by the media and more particularly The Standard Group for providing education forums on agriculture," he said.

He emphasised the importance of the media in the economic growth of the country.

Oloibe reassured farmers of enough certified maize seeds for the planting season.
