Pastoralists Parliamentary Group Members have called on police to reveal the whereabouts of former South C MCA Osman Khalif who was abducted from his Westlands home in Nairobi.

Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan said that Khalif who has been working as an advisor to Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has not been seen to date after he was abducted by armed people last Friday.

The 10 MPs want the government to ensure that Khalif is produced alive.

"Kenya is a country where the rule of law is adhered to. If Osman Khalif committed any crime there are clear procedures to follow. We are calling that he be produced before a court of law if he has committed a crime or if innocent to his family which is in distress," said Hassan.

Saku MP Dido Rasso said that Khalif is a community leader who is entitled to certain privileges which include decency during arrest since he was not a flight risk.

The Pastoralist Parliamentary Group raised concern over the return of abductions and forced disappearances despite the Kenya Kwanza government committing to end the same.

Rasso believes that Khalif was abducted from his home by security officers.

Marsabit Senator Mohammed Chute said that the legislators will petition the President within 24 hours if the former MCA is not produced before any court of law or handed over to his family since it was unfair that he was being held in an unknown place for an unknown reason.

"Osman Khalif was abducted from his Westlands home and his car was found at Parklands Police Station. We are giving the Police 24 hours to produce him to either a court of law or to his family failure to which we are going to petition President William Ruto over this matter," said Chute.

Eldas MP Adan Keynan argued that before anyone is arrested there should be investigations, collection of evidence, arrest and prosecution and not the other way round and it was unconstitutional for anyone to be held against their will yet their crime was not known.

Keynan said that it was wrong for security agencies to commit a crime in the course on investigations and it was time all agencies abide by the rule of the law in discharging their duties.

"I would like to call on the relevant agencies to ensure that Osman Khalif who is a well-known leader who has served as Member of the County Assembly in Nairobi should be taken to court if he has done any crime or be availed to his family if innocent as soon as possible," said Keynan.
