Former Christ is the Answer Ministries Church (Citam) Presiding Bishop David Oginde is the new Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) chairperson.

Oginde was yesterday appointed to the position by President William Ruto, replacing retired Archbishop Eliud Wabukala who was at the helm of the graft agency for a period six years.

His name was picked from a list of three individuals including former Makueni Professor Kivutha Kibwana and Amani Yuda Komara, who had all been picked by the Public Service Commission. Oginde's name has now been been forwarded to the National Assembly for consideration.

"His Excellency Hon. William Samoei Ruto has on the recommendation of the Public Service Commission nominated Bishop (Dr.) David Adang Oginde for appointment as the Chairperson of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission," a statement released yesterday by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei read.

The Bishop, if approved by Parliament, will be eligible to serve for a single term of six years that is unrenewable. According to law, the holder of the office will be paid allowances as determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

He is now confronted with full in-tray is fully as he sets out to slay the dragon of corruption amidst disappointment by a majority of Kenyans who argue the vice is still rampant.

Among other things, Oginde will have to deal with a backlog of cases, some high-profile, and others that highlight the excesses of both the previous and current regimes.

Previously, Oginde served as the Chancellor of Pan Africa Christian (PAC) University. He has a PhD in Organizational Leadership from Regent University School of Business and Leadership, USA. He also graduated with a Masters in Leadership Degree from Pan Africa Christian University.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture Degree from the University of Nairobi, and had also attended Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Trinity International University) in Illinois, USA, where he undertook his Biblical Studies.
