A Kenyan man, known as @bahati_the_luckyboy on social media, sparked a heated debate after posting a viral video complaining about a female guest who allegedly left his kitchen in a disastrous state.
In the clip, which has garnered over a million views on Instagram and even more traction on X (formerly Twitter), Bahati showcases a countertop cluttered with dirty dishes, leftover food, and a kitchen that looks like a battleground.
"A lady visits me, finds everything clean because I was preparing to host a guest, then she messes up the entire place," he rants. "I don’t even understand how someone boils all these eggs."
Bahati goes on to list his grievances, accusing his guest of devouring his avocados, finishing all his soda and snacks, and consuming all the meat, only to leave without cleaning up.
"And the audacity to leave the kitchen like this? Just because cleaning is considered ‘wifely duties’? Is this the Kenya we want?" he laments.
The video quickly became a talking point online, with netizens divided over Bahati’s predicament. Some sympathised with him, while others found his outburst dramatic.
Popular internet personality @tr_cillah quipped: "Men are so dramatic. Something that takes five minutes to fix, and he’s announcing it everywhere!"
@iannoh.__ humorously dubbed the guest “The Minister of Enjoyment.”
@kimanzi_ couldn't help but question the lady’s appetite: "Haha, this appetite isn’t even that of a fundi. And where were you when she was cooking all this?"
Others had more practical advice. @mrbradley__ joked: "Did she eat the soap too? Just wash the dishes, bro."
However, some netizens felt Bahati had no business exposing such personal grievances online. @MikeGitau weighed in:"I always ask myself, what’s the benefit of exposing such things online? You end up looking weak as a man and inviting ridicule. Just make your decision and act decisively without the drama. Leave social media theatrics to the ladies."
For @JustRoy_7, Bahati’s experience was all too relatable:"I remember a lady called Mercy from Kinangop. She visited my bedsitter when I was in first year and cooked nine eggs out of my 24, that was my stock for the whole week!"
