Controversial second-hand car dealer Joseph Kairo Wambui, popularly known as Khalif Kairo, has been re-arrested over fresh fraud allegations.

Kairo was taken into custody today, Tuesday, March 25, at the Milimani Law Courts, shortly after the mention of three ongoing cases where he is accused of defrauding clients in car deals.

It is alleged that the latest charges stem from claims that he received full payment for a car but failed to deliver the vehicle.

The now infamous businessman had recently offered a public apology to those he had wronged, but this latest arrest suggests his legal troubles are far from over.

He is expected to be arraigned in court tomorrow.

Following his arrest, Kairo took to X (formerly Twitter) to address his supporters, posting:

“Can’t keep a man who is determined to win down. We will overcome everything. Keep praying for me, keep supporting and keep wishing me well. It’s a tough economy that doesn’t favour youth-driven enterprise lakini calm seas never make good sailors.”

Earlier on, he had given an apology in a series of heartfelt tweets. He acknowledged his past mistakes and extended an olive branch to those he may have wronged.

"Despite everything I have gone through, I am actually very upbeat about rebuilding again. There's something beautiful about learning from mistakes and coming back bigger and better. To my rivals, blowing off my candle won't make yours shine brighter. The sea is very huge," he posted.

He also declared that those who may have held grudges against him, he harboured no ill will and was embracing a fresh start, urging anyone he may have offended to forgive him.

Despite his ongoing legal battles, Kairo remains defiant, insisting that he will overcome the challenges ahead. “Kubounce back is guaranteed and we will do great things that will inspire generations. Hizi ni minor setbacks,” he posted.
