Henry Desagu's emotional recovery journey as Samidoh, friends raise Sh1 million

Henry Desagu is breathing a sigh of relief after well-wishers and friends raised a generous Ksh 1 million to support his recovery journey following a tough battle with depression earlier this year.

Popular Kenyan comedian Henry Desagu is breathing a sigh of relief after well-wishers and friends raised a generous KSh1 million to support his recovery journey following a tough battle with depression earlier this year.

The heartwarming gesture was spearheaded by celebrated Mugithi artist Samidoh, Gatundu North MP Elijah Njoroge Kururia, and Damaris of Dama Mobile Spares.

The trio, alongside other friends and family members, visited Desagu at his rural home, where they handed over the donation after successfully organising a fundraiser to cater for his rehabilitation and medical expenses.

The visit was not just about the financial support. It doubled up as a homecoming ceremony, where Desagu’s loved ones gathered to celebrate his progress and offer emotional support as he continues to recover.

Desagu couldn't hold back his gratitude as he cracked a few jokes, showing that his comedic spirit was still alive.

"I want to thank all of you who came to my rescue and took me to the hospital. I think I am now recovering," Desagu said with a smile.

The comedian also opened up about his struggles with depression, urging young Kenyans to prioritize mental health and speak up when facing difficulties.

"I was really sick, and it was serious. One thing I’ve learned from this experience is that when life gets tough, don't suffer in silence. Talk to someone," he advised.

Gatundu North MP Elijah Njoroge Kururia, popularly known as Mofarm JM, commended Desagu for his resilience and encouraged him to reclaim his place in the entertainment industry.

"We’ve seen you overcome tough battles, and now it’s time to get back to being the star you once were," the MP said.

Samidoh, while handing over the donation, expressed his hope that the funds would bring blessings to Desagu and his family.

"This money we’ve brought is meant to uplift you and your loved ones. May it be a blessing to your family," the Mugithi star said.

Desagu later took to social media to express his deep gratitude, sharing a heartfelt message that read, "I have every reason to glorify God for such a great event. It's a big blessing to have guests at my parents' home. I thank everyone who supported me with prayers and financial aid. May God open new doors and change my life for the better."

Fans and followers flooded his comment section with messages of encouragement and support, applauding the well-wishers for their kindness.

"May God bless those who stood with you, Desagu. Keep fighting and stay strong," one fan commented.
