Let’s make this delicious Swahili fish filet in coconut sauce. This is a typical Swahili delicacy served with Ugali and kachumbari with a side pilipili if you wish. Karibuni utamu wa nyumbani kwetu.
What you will need:
500g fillet steak
1 teaspoon crushed black pepper
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
Salt to taste

1 teaspoon garlic, minced
3 tablespoons white vinegar
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
Marinate the fish with the above ingredients except the oil. In a nonstick pan over medium heat, add in the oil and pan sear the fish until golden brown and cooked on both sides.
For the sauce
500ml coconut cream
1 teaspoon turmeric
Juice of 1 lime
Salt to taste
Method:
In a sufuria put all the above ingredients and bring to a boil until cooked and thickened for about 8-10 minutes.
Pour the coconut mixture over the fish in the nonstick pan and bring to a boil for another five minutes or so.
You are now ready to serve your fish in coconut sauce with ugali and kachumbari. Enjoy.
