Kenyan rapper Kalasinga is marking his first anniversary as a professional artist by looking back on a year of growth, mentorship, and increasing recognition.
Since his official debut, he has established himself with a unique, boundary-pushing sound.
His music, known for its raw storytelling and street-inspired themes, has gained traction, with his debut recording reaching 21,200 monthly listeners.
Reflecting on his journey, he credits his success to discipline and consistency. “As an upcoming artist, I hoped for opportunities and they sure came to pass. Hard work makes anything possible,” he says.
Key collaborations have played a significant role in his progress. Producer Benjah Beats, known for his work on KCity, and mentor Clemmo have been instrumental in shaping his sound. Kalasinga even landed an acting role in KCity, thanks to Benjah, expanding his creative reach.
Looking ahead, he is preparing to release his highly anticipated album, Chafutone, which blends trap, genge, and Afrofusion. He describes it as a “street-inspired” project that will redefine Kenyan hip-hop. “People will understand its impact soon,” he hints.
