Comedian-turned-activist Eric Omondi says he is in Tanzania to bury the hatchet over the Willy Paul versus Diamond Platnumz beef, which he got himself involved in.
While addressing the media after his arrival in TZ, Omondi said that although he is in town to plan a scheduled Valentine’s Day show, he will also use the time to resolve issues that arose during the ill-fated Furaha City Festival.
“There was an issue between Diamond Platnumz and Willy Paul during the show, and after my post on socials, I felt like there was some misunderstanding. So I have come to level things up. I felt obliged to do so because when Diamond commented on my Instagram post, I tried to reach out to him, but he did not receive my calls,” he stated.
The funnyman says the organiser of the event is the one to blame for the melee.
“Diamond comes in and is given VIP treatment, his own tent and convoy. Zuchu had hers, and Rayvanny had the same, but there was none for Willy Paul. There was some scuffle, and Willy Paul was beaten, and this is why I said Kenyan acts are despised by fellow Kenyans,” he added.
Despite being shunned by the Bongo Flava star, the two would later patch things up, especially with business in the offing.
“I tried calling him several times, but he didn’t pick up. At first, I thought of deleting the post, but later I decided against it. Later, we talked and straightened things out. We spoke about what happened, and I also apologised to him,” he said.
Giving the Wasafi CEO his flowers, Eric downplayed any rift between them, stating that he had greatly benefitted from working with the TZ singer and had no qualms with Bongo music per se.
“Diamond is the one who brought me to TZ, from the Zari White Party, and after that, I have used him, speaking frankly, to get to where I am. I am not against Bongo music, but I am fighting for my country. The events happening in Kenya have been facing issues, and I told him (Diamond) that. Kenyans feel that they are not well treated. I mean, even at Raha Festival where Ali Kiba performed, we had tear gas. For example, if Konshens or Burna Boy had a show, how they are received at the gate compared to Khaligraph Jones is pathetic, as Khaligraph will have to explain who is in his entourage,” he stated.
