City businessman Mike Sonko has come to the rescue of embattled Jamaican star Shauna McKenzie better known by her stage name Etana.

The former Nairobi Governor shared a video on social media as the two arrived in Mombasa accompanied by their entourage were received by staff of his Shanzu based club Volume ViP lounge in Mtwapa, Coast region.

The two time Grammy nominated artist is scheduled to headline the show tonight ahead of the Jamuhuri celebrations tomorrow. ''This will be an opportunity for all my Kenyan fans based in the Coast region to show up at Volume lounge and I promised to take the vibes through the roof,'' an ecstatic Etana said in an interview.

This comes just days after her scheduled performance on the 7th of December in Nairobi was abruptly cancelled leaving her disappointed fans questioning the motive of the organisers.

In her statement, the artiste claimed that her concert had been planned well in advance, only for a last-minute conflict to arise with a high-profile performance by Tanzanian music sensation Diamond Platnumz. Etana, renowned for her powerful voice and empowering lyrics, took to social media to express her dismay, alleging sabotage in what she described as an attempt to prevent her from performing.

Clearly disappointed by the sabotage, the Jamaican star expressed her undying love for Kenya despite the incident. 'I have absolute love for my Kenyan fans and nothing will make me change my desire to have Kenya as my second home. Similar incidents occur all the time in Jamaica so this doesn't intimidate me,' she said. Sonko urged Etana and reggae fans to show up in large numbers and show their solidarity with her.

'It will definitely be an experience not worth missing,' he said. Etana has had three other performances in Kenya with her most recent being her soldout solo concert in 2021. She is also scheduled to perform in Meru and Eldoret besides several club appearances to meet her fans.
