Etana alleges foul play after Nairobi concert cancellation

Jamaican singer Etana has expressed her frustration after her scheduled performance in Nairobi was canceled at the last minute.

The event was set to take place on December 7 at the Nairobi Polo Club Grounds as part of the Furaha City lineup, which featured Kenyan and Tanzanian stars like Diamond Platnumz, Zuchu, Rayvanny, Willy Paul, and Khaligraph Jones.

Etana took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the situation, alleging sabotage by influential individuals.

“I am not happy about the sabotage, and let me be clear, I am not showing up at Platnumz’s show! Someone has paid big money to ensure the show tonight is sabotaged,” she wrote.

The singer revealed that her event, which had been promoted for months, was canceled due to a conflict with Diamond Platnumz’s show, which was being held in the same area.

“My show on Dec. 7 was being promoted long before someone popped up with a show with Diamond Platnumz on the same day and in the same area,” Etana said.

She claimed that despite initially hearing the other show had been postponed, it eventually went ahead, allegedly causing disruptions to her plans.

Etana explained that local authorities informed her the two events could not take place in the same area, leading to the cancellation of her show.

“All this politics and drama for one girl. I wonder who is behind it all. Why are you so afraid of one show and one woman?” she questioned.

Fans raised concerns about ticket refunds for the canceled event. In response, Etana said, “The promoters of the event will announce regarding tickets purchased. They were so very afraid of the turnout they tried everything to cause disruption. When it did not work, they blocked the event with the authorities.”

The Furaha City management is yet to respond to Etana’s claims.
