Content creator Tabitha Gatwiri is dead. Gatwiri was known for witty and funny content and had uploaded a short video on her instagram page on Wednesday, October 29, 2024 and her death came as a shock to many.

News of her demise was shared by her fellow content creators who struggled to come to terms with her sudden departure.

Comedian MC Bull recalled how he planned a shoot with Gatwiri, lauding her as a creative mind.

“Can’t believe you’re no more. It’s just last month we talked about our planned shoot. I am Sad; I don’t have words. Your talent will be missed. May God give your family strength at this trying moment.  R.I.P Tabitha Gatwiri,” he wrote.

Singer Kendi Kiremi said she was saddened by Gatwiri’s demise, saying she had lots of potential and was set for greater things.

“Oooh dear God! My fellow Meru gal?️?I hate it when young people with so much potential die. She had so much life left ahead of her. May God receive you with open arms and grant your family, friends and fans strength. Poleni sana. R.I.P Mami.”

Initial reports indicate she died after a short illness and her body is currently at the KU Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue.

Businessman Mwenda Thuranira shared a heartfelt tribute, saying, “I’m struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss of my sister and friend, Tabitha Gatwiri TABS. She was a true light for the younger generations, known for her incredible talent, discipline, and hard work.”

He added, “She truly represented the Meru community on the Kenyan stage.”

Comedian Crazy Kennar also conveyed his sadness, stating, “Death has robbed us of this wonderful soul. What a sad day?.”

Gatwiri, 29, gained popularity for her comedy skits, which she shared on various social media platforms and YouTube.

Her first viral video involved a comedic story about her “university boyfriend” and his romantic language. In a past interview, she clarified, “It wasn’t actually about an actual boyfriend but just comedy.”

She revealed that she studied education at university but chose not to pursue it as a career, saying she had lost passion for the field. Gatwiri’s signature Meru accent became a trademark in her videos.

 “I never used to have it while in campus, but I guess it was born out of a habit when I started creating videos. I don’t even notice it anymore,” she explained.

In 2021, Gatwiri received the prestigious YouTube Silver Play Button award.
