How Gen Z sent Passaris 'inches'

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris [Edward Kiplimo, Standard]

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris shared how some young men would send her indecent photos during the ‘maandamano days’.

In an undated video that has been trending on social media, the lawmaker says she received a barrage of messages from men after her number was shared online.

A few months ago, several telephone numbers of politicians were leaked on X and Kenyans would call them out for their stand on the now-dropped Finance Bill.

While some sent a few shillings others sent more, literally.

"Ata mimi kama mheshimiwa saa zingine vijanaa wananikosea heshima. Unajua ile wakati waliweka namba yangu kwa mtandao wakaanza kusalimia kila mtu... wakaanza kunitumia mapicha ya vitu ambayo ata sijui ni nini.

“Sijui wanafikiria hiyo kitu ni nini lazima niiangalie. Wengine wananiambia vile wakona inches, inches na inches. Sasa mimi nafikiria, 'wewe ni kijana kama mtoto wangu.Mimi nikona miaka 60 alafu unaniambia ukona inches,” she said.

Passaris said it was disrespectful of Gen Z to send her such photos considering her age.

“Then you remove your innerwear and proceed to take a picture of your private part...

“Unaniambia nifanye nini na hiyo kitu? Alafu ata labda si yako you have downloaded it online because yours isn't even photogenic,” she said.

In June this year, Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo also recalled how a young man slid into her DM talking about inches.

She added that she had ‘retired from that sector’ and was amused that young men are looking for older women.

“There is a young man who has written to me when people are writing and telling me. 'Make sure the Finance Bill does not pass.' A young man instead is writing to me that I am young but I have inches, Madam Speaker.

"So it is actually the reverse, it's the young men who are looking for retirees like me. I don't mean I have retired in my work, but I have retired in that other sector, telling me about inches, what do I do with inches,” she asked.
