Hip-hop star Rich Homie Quan died from an accidental drug overdose, the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed on Tuesday, October 1.

The 34-year-old rapper was found to have fentanyl, alprazolam (Xanax), codeine, promethazine, and THC in his system at the time of his death according to the report obtained by PEOPLE.

The rapper, born Dequantes Devontay Lamar, known for hits like “Type of Way,” passed away in Atlanta on September 5. His body was found unresponsive by family members in his home.

According to a police incident report, Lamar’s brother noticed him asleep on the kitchen floor early that morning, a situation he described as “very unusual.”

Lamar was then moved to the couch, where he was later found cold and not breathing by a woman in the house, who called the authorities.

Lamar was pronounced dead at the scene, with the medical examiner initially listing his cause and manner of death as pending the completion of further laboratory studies and tissue analysis.

His death has now been officially ruled an accident.

Rich Homie Quan leaves behind five children—sons Devin, Royal, Khosen, and Loyal, and daughter Alayna.

The rapper, a proud father, was laid to rest in Georgia on September 17, following a viewing and a public celebration of life that was live-streamed for his fans.

In a statement released after his death, Lamar’s family expressed their grief and their desire to keep his legacy alive.

“The Lamar family lost our beloved son, brother, father, and friend... known to the world as Rich Homie Quan,” they said. “While he leaves us with an undeniable hole in our hearts, we are comforted by knowing his music and triumphant spirit lives on.”

Rich Homie Quan rose to fame in the early 2010s, gaining recognition for his distinctive style and chart-topping hits.
