Morine Aringo apologises for joking about dating BFF's ex-husband

Fashionpreneur Morine Aringo on Friday apologized to all those she had offended through her social media posts that suggested she was considering dating a popular city lawyer who was previously married to her best friend.

It all started when Aringo said she was not married and was enjoying being spoilt by the said guy, among others, something that did not go down well with her followers, who accused her of being a homewrecker.

“Yaani, you guys. Can’t a man cut for me? I have cutters and I make fun of them here everyday, why is this one special yet I even posted if I can anguka with him? Hehe.

“A man cuts for me and suddenly I’m reading things that are not very cutesy. Do you believe those things yourselves? I’m sorry oo,” she wrote.

Adding: “There’s no ring on my finger, I’m just vetting my cutters and enjoying their spoiling here and there as I see who the best and richest bidder is.”

Aringo said she would welcome more suitors but the said wakili and an ‘Odiero’ ranked highly in the pecking order.

As expected, the post drew a myriad of reactions from netizens who warned women against letting their BFFs get too close to their husbands.

Aringo, in a bid to set the record straight, penned an apology, admitting some of her comments might have been ill-timed.

“A lot has happened in the last nine days. I have been through it all - panic attacks, tears, loss of weight, nightmares, every bad emotion I never even thought existed…

“I’m sorry I made jokes about kuanguka na Wakili. I’m sorry I even allowed him to be on the list of cutters. I honestly crossed a boundary here and I deserve the backlash I got,” she started.

“I’m sorry I made those comments, it was in the heat of the moment and I got carried away after I saw myself being called a home wrecker. They say give people what they want to hear and fight fire with fire. Pathetic mistake. I shouldn’t have and I’ve learnt this the hard way,” she wrote.

The entrepreneur said she was not a homewrecker and had lots of respect for the institution of marriage.

She apologized to the friends she had let down and asked for grace as she dealt with the backlash.

“A lot of lies have been told, some I can never come back from. Some discrediting the very principles I stand for and the hard work I have put in building myself. But please extend me some grace. I am a lot of things, but I also have limits to what I can do or how wicked I can be.

“I’ve learnt a painful lesson. I made jokes out of a grave situation and things spiraled from there. I honestly, didn’t think it would come to that. I was being silly and shortsighted,” she wrote.

Adding: “I apologize for the hurt I caused, I ask for forgiveness and patience from you all moving forward. And no, I am not dating the man and will not continue with whatever kind of friendship whatsoever.”
