Rapper Rich Homie Quan dies

 The late Homie Quan

The Trap community is ‘feeling some type of way’ after news broke that rapper Rich Homie Quan passed away yesterday.

Born Dequarius Raymond, the Atlanta-based rapper known for his chart-topping hits, was tragically found dead at home.

According to reports, his girlfriend found him ‘unresponsive’ when she returned home and immediately called 911 after she found him ‘foaming at the mouth.’ The recorded audio of the call between the rapper’s girlfriend and officials revealed chilling details about his death.

According to reports by TMZ who already allegedly got hold of the recording of the call, the girlfriend told the dispatcher that the rapper was not breathing and did not have a heartbeat.

She also revealed that he was unresponsive on a couch in their home when she called 911 and started foaming at the mouth when she tried to move him.

Still in his early 30s, Quan’s cause of death was not immediately known, a majority speculate that it was due to alleged overdosing, although, the autopsy is set to be done later.

Immediately after the news broke, celebrities, family and friends started sending out tributes on various social platforms. Several artistes, including Boosie Badazz, Quavo among many others shared their grief.

On X, BET channel posted, “Rich Homie Quan has passed away at 34, according to his family. Quan provided us with so many hits during the 2010s. You knew you were in for something special as soon as you heard his voice on the hook. Our hearts go out to his family and friends. Rest in power, Quan. ?”

Quan emerged on the music scene in the early 2010s, gaining recognition for his music which majorly incorporated elements of trap music and Southern hip-hop.

His breakthrough came with the release of his single "Type of Way" in 2013, which peaked at number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Musically, he leaves behind a rich discography of one studio album, four extended plays, nine mixtapes and twenty-three singles (in addition to twelve as a featured artist).
