KCB Tujiajiri Program empowers youth in Kajiado and Nyamira

The KCB Foundation 2Jiajiri Program continues to empower youth to grow their businesses by offering full scholarships to qualified applicants.

This opportunity has enabled the youth to access quality vocational training that scales their micro-entrepreneurial knowledge into the formal sector and, more importantly, matches their skills to industry needs.

David Nkuyata Emunai is a sole entrepreneur and journalist who owns the Munai Media Production Company in Kajiado County. He is a diploma graduate in Media and Journalism employed in one of the local media houses until he was retrenched during COVID-19. The KCB 2Jiajiri program allowed David to undergo a three-month training course, during which he sharpened his skills in videography, photography, editing, and media production. Afterwards, he was able to set up Emunai studios, which enabled him to practice his skills. David has since focused his talents on photography, videography, and emceeing services in Kajiado and beyond. The Studio has also employed other support staff hired at his studio.

“The KCB 2Jiajiri program gave me a boost with what I was doing because I used to have general media knowledge and background, but the program allowed me to sharpen my photography and video production skills," he mentioned in an Interview.

David appreciates KCB Foundation's partnership with Mastercard Foundation through the 2Jiajiri Program for the training opportunity that gave him the skills to handle clients professionally and a chance to earn a living. David also involves himself in empowerment programs in his village to help the boy children access education.

“I want to thank the KCB 2jiajiri program for the training that gave me the skills and professionalism to handle my clients,” said David.

Felix Orenge is another participant in the 2jiajiri program in Nyamira County. He applied for the program online and qualified for a sponsorship opportunity to study at Nyamira Polytechnic, where he underwent six months of training in Artisan and Plumbing. Felix thanks the program for allowing him to gain skills and knowledge in plumbing.

“I want to thank the KCB 2jiajiri program for the sponsorship opportunity that accorded me the skills in plumbing”, he stated

The program seeks to address the skills mismatch by providing technical scholarships for the youth to improve their market skills and micro-entrepreneurship knowledge.
