2025 looks set to be a year of action-packed film releases with several big sequels and live-action remakes of beloved animated pictures planned. These are some of the big hits expected this year.
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: THE FINAL RECKONING.
The plot of the film has been kept under wraps but the movie will follow up the events of 'Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One'. Here, Ethan Hunt played by Tom Cruise and his team are pitted against Gabriel and a rogue AI named Entity.
In the film, Ethan and his team has to find the Entity before it can fall into the wrong hands. This includes various powerful people across the world. Their first mission is to find a Russian Submarine wreck dubbed Sevastopol which holds the key to destroying or unlocking the AI.
There are new characters who are introduced in the film that will shed a light on the previous film’s plot. This highly anticipated film will be released on May 23,2025.
AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH.
For those who watched 'Avatar: The Way of Water' in 2022, then this is the sequel. The upcoming and highly anticipated science fiction film has been co-produced, co-edited, co-written, and directed by award-winning director, James Cameron.
It will be a third installment of the Avatar film series. In the film, James Cameron introduces a new side of the Na’vi communities. The story introduces a new community called the ‘Ash People’ who dwell in the volcanic regions of Pandora.
This film comes to fruition after being delayed nine times. It will be followed by Avatar 3 and Avatar 4 to be released in 2029 and 2031, with each sequel connecting back to a central storyline that revolves around family, survival, and the fight for Pandora’s future. 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' will be released in December 19,2025.
SUPERMAN
For those who love Superhero movies, then you will be excited to know that Superman has released a new sequel for 2025.The upcoming American superhero film is based around an eponymous character dubbed ‘Superman.’
In the film, Superman's journey to reconcile his alien heritage with his human family is explored. Fans will finally get to learn more about his upbringing as shown in the previous Superman film series over the years.
It has been produced by DC Studios and distributed by Warner Bros pictures. JURASSIC WORLD: REBIRTH
This upcoming American Science fiction is one to be on the lookout for. Directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp, this sequel is the fourth installment in the Jurassic World Series and the seventh in the overall Jurassic Park Film series.
In this film, Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson) a skilled expert is hired to work with paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey) and team leader Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali). Their top-secret mission is to acquire some genetic material from the three largest creatures in the world.
According to them, this genetic material has a drug that can miraculously save human lives. During their mission, Zora and her team are faced with challenges where some roving aquatic dinosaurs topple their boat and leave them stranded in an island.
They are forced to confront a terrifying discovery that has been hidden in the world for years. The film will be released on July 2,2025.
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON
This is one of the most viewed and anticipated trailers of 2025.This upcoming American fantasy film has been produced by DreamWorks Animation and Marc Platt Productions. It is a live-action remake of 2010’s animated film How to train your Dragon and 2003’s novel, 'How to Train Your Dragon' by Cressida Cowell.
It is about Vikings and dragons who have been feuding for generations. However, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, the son of the chief, Stoick the Vast goes against all odds and befriends a dragon named ‘Toothless.’
Their unexpected bond leads to the discovery of the true nature of dragons changing the perception of the Viking society. The film is set to be released theatrically by Universal Pictures in the United States on June 13, 2025.
FINAL DESTINATION: BLOODLINES.
For all the fans of supernatural horror films, this is a must-watch. The upcoming American film is the sixth installment in the Final Destination film series. It has been directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein and written by Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor.
The plot is yet to be announced but the trailer is up for fans to watch. The film has been produced by New Line Cinema and will be released on May 16, 2025 by Warner Bros. Pictures.

SNOW WHITE
This is a remake of 1937’s 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' that was a hit decade later. The Walt Disney animation has been amongst the most watched and loved fairytale animations over the years.
With a plot so universally familiar to everyone, the love-action reimagining has been really anticipated this year. It has been directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson and produced by Walt Disney Productions.
The film stars are Rachel Zegler, Andrew Burnap, and Gal Gadot.The film is about a princess forced to run away from her evil step-mother after she sent a hitman to kill her. She ends up in the forest and meets seven dwarfs who take her in.
Her stepmother then disguises herself as an old woman and gives her a poisoned apple. Snow White dies but she is awoken by a kiss from her prince charming and they live happily ever after.
'Snow White' is scheduled to be released in theaters in the United States by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures on March 21, 2025.

For gamers around the world, the hit video game Minecraft has been transformed onto a live-action movie. However, the details about the storyline has not been released but the possibilities of the movie are endless.
The game is very popular and loved by gamers all around the world. In fact, the main characters of the film are played by iconic and award-winning actors like Aqua man’s Jason Momoa and Jennifer Coolidge.
