Health CS: More Kenyans presenting themselves for vaccine

Following the new directives and measures issued by the Health CS over the weekend, there has been an increase in the number of people presenting themselves for the vaccine.

In a statement, CS Mutahi Kagwe said for the first time since the vaccination started, Kenya has recorded the highest number of vaccines administered on a single day.

As of yesterday, Kenya recorded 103,506 vaccines administered, 53,506 are first doses.

"We are happy to note more than the doubling of people presenting themselves for the first dose compared to last week."

Adults aged 18 years and above and teenagers aged 15-17 years are asked to get vaccinated.

Some 6,597,597 vaccines have so far been administered across the country.

Of these, 4,087,317 are partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated are 2,510,280.

This comes as 35 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours from a sample size of 4,246. The positivity rate is now at 0.8 per cent.

Of the cases, 33 are Kenyans while two are foreigners.

The youngest is a five-year-old child while the oldest is 79 years.

The total confirmed positive cases are now 254,816 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,811,260.

Twenty-six patients have recovered from the disease with 22 from the home-based isolation and care programme, while four are from various health facilities countrywide.

Total recoveries now stand at 248,018 of whom 200,293 are from the home-based care and isolation programme.

Two patients have succumbed to the disease, pushing total deaths to 5,332.

A total of 346 are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide.
