Thugs yesterday broke into the offices of the Kenya News Agency and National Environment Management Authority and stole equipment.
Bungoma South OCPD Kirunya Limbitu said that they were still carrying out investigations into the burglary.
Among the stolen equipment are computers, TV sets, cameras and important files.
But County Information Officer Pauline Ikanda, who recorded a statement with the police, said the robbers might have used a master key in accessing the two offices.
“We were shocked that when we arrived in office this morning we found all tools of trade gone,” she said.
She said the robbers might be people who understand the KNA office well and were interested in getting certain information because they took CPUs “may be with an aim of extracting some essential information”.
Condemned incident
Two months ago, thugs also broke into the Agriculture ministry offices and made away with 10 computers.
Bungoma County Commissioner Maalim Mohamed condemned the incident and called for proper investigations.
Meanwhile, over 80 students of St Mary’s Kibabii Boys slept in the cold after fire gutted their dormitory.
The institution principal Mathews Namunwa said no student was injured during the 8pm incident but they lost all their personal belongings, including books.
