A businesswoman is seeking action against her former husband who she accuses of going on rampage and destroying household goods valued at Sh88,486 because he was not given Sh2,000.
Samwel Mwangi was presented before Makadara Law Courts principal magistrate Erick Mutunga on August 16 after his former wife, Catherine Mtaru, reported him to Saika Police Station.
This was after he allegedly damaged a 55-inch television, a coffee table, a water dispenser and a weighing scale. Mtaru is also accusing him of insulting her in the public.
It all began when Mwangi borrowed Mtaru some money saying he was at the car mechanic and he needed Sh2,000 saying he would refund it. Mtaru told him she could only afford Sh1,200.
This is said to have infuriated him and he stormed the complainant's house and demanded to know why she had failed to send him the money.
The accused then started to hurl insults at her while smashing household effects.

Frightened, Mtaru and her teenage son dashed outside for safety. When the boy tried to calm down his father, he threatened to hurt him. Fortunately, the landlady rushed in and saved the teenager from his father.
Before he left, the man destroyed more household goods. The complainant was advised to seek help from the police who arrested him following a probe.
In court, Mwangi denied the allegations and was granted a cash bail of Sh80,000 and an alternative bond of Sh100,000. The case will be heard on February 18, next year.
