The State Department for Public Service has extended the Comprehensive Medical Insurance Scheme for Civil Servants until Tuesday, November 21, 2024.

The decision follows the lapse of a previous extension on September 30.

In a statement on Wednesday, October 9, Public Service Principal Secretary Amos Gathecha said the extension will ensure a seamless transition to the Social Health Authority (SHA) and effective service delivery to scheme beneficiaries.

“The extension allows us to provide uninterrupted medical coverage for all eligible staff until the new arrangements are fully operational,” noted Gathecha.

He added that the scheme covers National Government employees, officers seconded to County Governments and staff of the National Youth Service (NYS).

The National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) administered the contract for the scheme for the 2023/2024 financial year, originally set from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, with a prior three-month extension.
