Every other week, the First Lady ventures into a different county for the now familiar ritual of handing over a mobile clinic.
But apart from media images of the First Lady cutting the ribbon to officially inaugurate a mobile clinic, little is known of what is contained in the Sh10 million facility.
The mobile clinic is designed to provide healthcare services to all clients with a bias towards women and children.
There are four primary partitions in the clinic: The common entrance area; the maternal, general consultation and procedure room; paediatric consultation and procedure room; and finally, the laboratory and pharmacy area.
The mobile clinic comes with an external canopy, which acts as a reception and triage area. At the heart of the mobile clinic are 52 pieces of medical items and equipment that can turn the van into an emergency theatre if need be.
Included are standard-size and portable oxygen cylinders, oxygen delivery regulators and humidifiers, general minor surgical set, sonic aid doppler machine, multi-purpose examination/procedure/delivery bed, and a mobile examination light.
