The decision by Teachers service commission to ban 96 teachers from class for life is commendable. Many cases of teachers abusing their students sexually in our schools is on rampant making students endangered species.

It is true that these inhuman acts have been happening but a lot of cover-ups by parents, communities and some teachers have hindered justice for the victims. This has been enabling the perpetrators of the vice to walk scot free while their victims undergo chronic depression and their future crippled. Especially young girls who get pregnant as a result of sexual harassment are forced to leave school to take care of the pregnancy. If lucky they resume school after delivery but only a few are able to get back to school.

The law should also be extended to the members of the public who are also abusing our young boys and girls secretly. Such stringed laws should serve as a lesson to many who are committing such vices in schools.
