Gor Mahia head coach Johnathan McKinstry has brushed off rumors that his top striker Benson Omalla is on the move out of the club.

Reports have been circulating on social media for the past week stating that the former Western Stima man is poised to join Algerian giants USM Alger.

According to McKinstry, Gor is yet to receive any approach on their highly rated striker.

"No contact has been made with Omalla up to this point and we have not received any offer so far. Those are just rumors.

"However, we cannot stand in the players way but at the same time their has to be fair value and following of the rules in terms of acquiring players," said the Irish tactician.

McKinstry rubbed off claims that Omalla would receive a monthly salary of $20,000 (Kes 3.1 million), $100,000 (Kes 15.8 million) as signing bonus and that K'Ogalo would receive a transfer fee of $50,000 (Kes 7.9 million) that would trigger the release clause in the striker's contract.

Omalla moved to Swedish Division One side FC Linkoping City back in June 2021 in what was to be a six-month loan spell but terminated his contract just two months citing frustration and being played out of position.

He hit top form in the 22/23 season where he plundered 26 goals as Gor claimed their 20th title and has also started the 23/24 campaign on a high note with 9 goals after the first leg.
