Genge star Mejja is gearing up to release his first-ever solo album, marking a major milestone in his celebrated music career.
He recently teased the project on Instagram, “I have been cooking something in silence. I hope itawanice. First ever solo album,” he posted.
Mejja, whose real name is Major Nameye Khadija, has been a dominant force in the Kenyan music scene for over a decade.
He first rose to fame as part of the group Ghetto Clan before transitioning into a solo career that saw him produce hit after hit.
However, he became even more influential when he joined forces with Madtraxx and Kid Kora to form The Kansoul, a group that redefined Kenyan party anthems with tracks like Dabotap, No Woman No Party.
After The Kansoul went on hiatus, Mejja cemented his status as a solo artist with chart-topping hits such as Tabia Za Wakenya, Ulimi Yangu, and Siskii.
His witty storytelling, humorous lyrics, and unique flow have endeared him to fans across generations, making him one of the most respected Genge artists in the country.
Now, with his first solo album on the way, Mejja pledges on bringing something fresh to the table while staying true to his signature style.
Although he has not revealed the official release date, his Instagram post hinted that fans should expect a project packed with relatable storytelling, club bangers, and deep insights into Kenyan culture. He also revealed that the album is already done.
