In a country where creativity often knows no bounds, an Eldoret businessman, Collins Leitich, alias Chepkulei, has left Kenyans both amused and bewildered after establishing his own police station.

In a now-viral TikTok video, Raila Odinga's die-hard supporter, Omosh One Hour, could not hide his shock as he reacted to the bizarre incident.

“Nimeogopa Wakenya. Yaani mtu anachukua pesa yake anaenda kwa duka, ananunua rangi ya black, red, yellow na blue, alafu anajenga police station yake," Omosh said.

Omosh One Hour, in his usual comic style, warned that such stunts could lead to serious insecurity issues.

"Kuharibu maneno, anashika watu anawaweka kwa cell na kuwalipisha bail. William Samoei Ruto, hakuna security hii Kenya. Very soon utasikia kuna mochari fake, fear Kenyans,” he joked.

In his defence, Chepkulei apologised to the government for failing to follow the right procedures when setting up the controversial police base located at Cherus Trading Center in Kesses, Uasin Gishu County.

"I apologize to the authorities for not notifying them, but some knew about it. We are willing to cooperate and make it official," he said.

Chepkulei revealed that he personally financed the construction and hoped that the real police officers would eventually occupy the station.

"It’s not legal, but we are working with authorities to meet the requirements. It has only been operational for five days," he added.

The bizarre incident has sparked mixed reactions from netizens.

One user commented, “Mimi sioni shida hapo. Kuna private schools, private hospitals, why not private police?"

Another user humorously claimed to have fallen victim to the fake cops.

"Walinishika Turbo nikaletwa Cheboror patrol base, nikatoka na 16k. Nilishangaa kuona ni fake,” the user wrote.

Some, however, praised Chepkulei for creating jobs in a country struggling with unemployment.

“Hii ni self-employment. Kuna mtu alikuwa anangoja uniform na muhuri ya kazi,” a user joked.

Another lauded the effectiveness of the fake station, saying, “Huyo ametuletea peace huku. In fact, that was the busiest police station ever in Eldoret.”
