MTN Uganda's Chief Executive Officer, Sylvia Mulinge, was taken aback upon winning the coveted CEO of the Year award during the MTN Global Leadership Gathering (GLG) in Johannesburg, South Africa. The CEO won the prestigious title that spans all 20 African countries where the telecoms company operates.
After receiving the honor, she commented on X and credited God with the same, saying she was still processing everything.
"See what the Lord has done! What an amazing surprise! I’m still processing," she shared on the platform. Mulinge, who took over as CEO of MTN Uganda in 2022, received the award at a glittering event in the South African city.
With a subscriber base exceeding 280 million, the largest telecom company in Africa has celebrated the remarkable executive for her leadership in a crucial market.
In a statement, MTN remarked, "This success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, emphasizing the power of our collaborative efforts."
In addition to Mulinge's personal accolade, MTN Uganda received several awards at the GLG gala, including:

Before joining MTN Uganda, Mulinge held key leadership roles at Safaricom, including Chief Consumer Business Officer.
