Popular Kenyan music group Matata surprised one of their own, Freddy Milanya, with a special birthday gift—a piece of land in Kajiado North.
The group posted a heartwarming message on Instagram, sharing photos of Freddy from his childhood to his current life as a successful musician. The final slide revealed a title deed for the land they purchased for him.
"Happy Birthday to our very own Swag Boy ?," they wrote. "We decided this year, as you turn 30 the fourth time, not to #TumaMadoo but instead gift you with something special (Check the last slide) ✅ Help us wish @freddy_milanya a happy birthday."
The phrase "#TumaMadoo" refers to their latest song, Tuma Madoo, which highlights the concept of Black Tax—the responsibility of financially supporting extended family and the community, a reality many Africans face.
Fans quickly responded with admiration, with one user commenting, "I need friends like this," and another adding, "Boys’ friendship is so REAL."
Matata, known for their catchy music and creative videos, also shared the significance of brotherhood in a comment;

However, amidst the excitement, fans have been curious about the group’s fifth member, Ken Kimathi, who has been missing from their social media posts for some time now.
Matata has yet to address his absence or clarify whether he is still part of the group, leaving fans wondering about his status.
