Cocktail bar: The Margarita special (Photo: iStock)
National Margarita Day may have passed, but the love for this classic cocktail continues, especially among Kenyan women.
Its origins remain a delightful mystery, with stories ranging from a 1938 creation for a showgirl to its evolution from the "Daisy" cocktail.
In Kenya, the margarita's popularity is booming. Why? It's simple, budget-friendly, and perfect for any occasion.
As Diageo brand ambassador Kingline Ojal explains, its ease of preparation makes it a hit with home bartenders. Just tequila, lime, and a touch of sweetness are all you need.
The margarita's comforting, zesty taste is a reliable favourite, and Nairobi bars are embracing its versatility.
Kenyan women love customizing it with local flavours like mango, chilli, and passion fruit, making it ideal for everything from rooftop gatherings to beachside brunches.
