Komba Bellow says his love for music began at age ten at St George Primary School, Kinshasa, Congo, and a secondary school with a similar name.
"I was part of an 11-man Les Premiere Bon Garcons, an estate band, where we often played in various clubs within the villages during our free times," he says.
After completing his secondary school he went on to follow the yearnings of his heart, despite opposition from his parents.
"I would, for instance, sneak from home during the day to venture into solo shows inspired by my mentor and music idol, the late Franco Luambo Makiadi," says Bellow.
Although unwilling to reveal much about his personal life, bellow says he has three sons, who live with him in Paris, France.
So given a chance would he play with a Kenya band? "Definitely yes! But as long as we agree on the payment terms which has to be met on time."
And he has a word of advice for upcoming musicians: They need to maintain discipline by keeping off alcohol and elderly women amongst other things, since this is bound to ruin their reputation.
