All roads lead to the Kenya National Theatre today as one of the biggest dance competition Win-A-Car Chakacha contest begins. The event that starts at noon and will be launched by William Ole Ntimama, Minister of State for National Heritage and Culture. The championship is an initiative of the Nairobi Children Care and Rehabilitation Centre and Rare Watts. The proceeds of the competition will be used to build classrooms and a vocational training Centre at the Children’s centre.

Rare Watts — then comprising of Fernardo Anuanga, James Ongoro and Enock Mwendwa Kimeu — are now organising the competition emerged second first runners up and the during the 1990 Win-A-Car final held at Kenyatta International Conference Centre. The trio wowed the crowd with their Maasai outfit and electrifying techno/soukous/maasai dance moves. And almost seven years after showcasing their talent an almost similar event is on show. The first runner up will win Sh200,000 and plasma screen for the second runners up. The group diversified the dance styles to include chakacha, zouk, Congolese music and what the called East African belly dancing.
