Supermum who had 4 babies in just 8 months prepares to celebrate first Mother's Day with new brood

UK: A supermum who had four babies in just eight months is preparing to celebrate her first Mother’s Day at home with her instant family.

Sarah Ward’s son Freddie was just eight weeks old when she discovered she was pregnant again - this time with triplets.

When the shocked mother of Crayford, Kent, found she was expecting three more babies, doctors advised her to abort one to give the other two a better chance of survival.

But Sarah, 29 - who feared she couldn't conceive - and partner Benn Smith, 31, refused and vowed to keep all three. Now they cannot wait to celebrate their first Mother’s Day at home as a family.

And supermum Sarah certainly deserves to put her feet up. Every day she changes up to 30 nappies, eight sets of clothes, makes 12 bottle of milk and washes and irons four loads of washing.

She said: "The last year hs been hard work but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Being a mum to four one year olds is crazy and yes it is like running a nursery at times but I would not change it for the world.

"I used to dread Mother’s Day when I was struggling to fall pregnant, now I cannot wait. They are my little miracles."

Against the odds, the triplets were born seven weeks prematurely on March 10 last year when big brother Freddie was still only nine months old.

Stanley arrived first weighing 1.7kg, followed by Reggie, 2.1kg and sister Daisy 1.9kg.

The tots were rushed straight to special baby care where the family spent their first Mother’s Day fraught with worry. They were finally discharged weeks later.

This will be their first ever Mother’s Day at home as a family.

Proud Sarah says she still feels like the luckiest mum alive after once fearing she would never be a mother at all.

She was due to see her GP over suspected fertility problems when she conceived Freddie. He was born 1st June 2013.

When she found out she was pregnant with triplets she was advised to abort one baby to increase the chances of the others.

"I just couldn’t do it. How could I pick one and thank God I didn’t because look at them now. They are perfect."

She added: "Mother’s Day feel so exciting this year because we finally have them all at home. Now I have the family I always dreamed of and more.

"I am the luckiest mum in the world and possibly the most tired too."

Postal worker Benn plans to treat Sarah to a meal and chocolates – and she certainly deserves to put her feet up."

Sarah says: "It’s exhausting but we wouldn’t change it for the world."

Ahead of Mother's Day, fellow mum Bethany Hamilton has been showing there's nothing that can hold her back.
