Celebrity Alt-Careers: What they would have been if they chose academia

Some fell off the way pursuing their parent's dreams, went to school but later came back to entertainment circles. Some entertainers might have made their way up the ladder with little or no education but others aced their examinations but still chose to entertain us. Others left the corporate world and settled on mostly music and content creation. Barak Jacuzzi: Psychologist Barak was raised in America during his teenage years returning to Kenya after graduating high school to pursue a career in music. he once explained that hewas in school a while back where he pursued a degree in psychology. Fena Gitu The acclaimed singer and rapper studied International Relations and Psychology from the United States International University. Muthoni Drummer Queen Muthoni Ndonga's earliest aspirations included becoming an artist, but she was discouraged by her parents due to their traditional values. Growing up, she channeled her passion for music through school choirs until 2004 when, as a student, she organized her first concert with the help of her friends. In 2008, after having obtained her diploma in international relations and philosophy, with the intention to increase the visibility of alternative music in Kenya, she founded the festival 'Blankets & Wine'. Bensoul- Civil Engineer In 2013, while studying Civil Engineering at the University of Nairobi, Bensoul met H_art The Band that helped him polish his music writing skills. He subsequently dropped out of school to fully focus on music. Had he pursued academia, he probably would be a civil engineer somewhere DJ Creme de la Creme: Computer Scientist The celebrated decks-man graduated with Second Class Upper Division in Computer Science from Kabarak University. He was the Index One in his primary school. The DJ also couples up as a seasoned entrepreneur. Nadia Mukami: Finance Officer Nadia's youthful zest and passion is impossible to ignore, which is what initially struck many of her fans when her song Si Rahisi hit the airwaves some few years ago. Her lyrics, almost poetic in nature, make her a cut above the rest. Were it not for the limelight she probably would have been a finance officer in some company as she holds a degree in Bachelor of Business Administration, Finance option. Krispah: Aeronautical Engineer Ndovu kuu became an overnight sensation courtesy of his easy flowing lyrics that are laced with humour. Reports have it that the Ndovu ni Kuu singer was first called to pursue a degree in Geospatial Engineering but did not like it. DJ Mochi Baybee: Engineer A purveyor of infectious energy as she describes herself, Mochi relocated with her family to the US for greener pastures in 2009. She studied her Bachelors's Degree in Engineering at Minnesota State University, and Iron Range Engineering and Master's in Engineering at the University of St Thomas. She started working as an engineer but her pull for music and desire to make people dance became her passion. Avril: Graphics Designer While celebrating her 35th birthday Avril dropped her 13-track album, Spirit, featuring inspiring songs, sensual hits, dance and reggae numbers as well as spiritual melodies. Her career path would have been a whole different story after 2009 when she graduated with a degree in Art and Design, Graphics, and Product Design. Sanaipei Tande: Pharmacist Before hitting the limelight in 2004, Tande was in medical school pursuing Pharmacy. If the big break, Cocacola Popstars, did not happen she would be so deep into medicine as at the moment. Frasha: Physiotherapist Before calling it quits and joining the now-defunct boy band Punit, Frasha was a practicing physiotherapist at the Aga Khan University Hospital. In most of his songs he refers to himself as 'Dakitare.' Nameless: Architect The Voloyuum hitmaker is one of the few musical geniuses that have not only succeeded in music but also in education. Nameless is a graduate of the University of Nairobi with a Degree in Architecture. The award-winning artiste was among architects that designed the The Hub Karen. Njugush: Journalist If life went by the books, funny man Njugush would be probably on your screens, not as a comedian but a reporter. Njugush attended the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication, where he studied journalism. Nyashinski: Environmentalist Nyashinski is among the few rappers in the country with a successful comeback to the music industry. The former member of Kleptomaniax pursued a degree in Environmental Planning Management, but he once stated that he has never applied it.
