Virtual gig: Betty Kyallo’s message on landing ‘We Are One Africa’ deal

Celebrated TV presenter Betty Kyallo is on Saturday, June 6 set to host the highly anticipated We Are One Africa virtual concert alongside comedian Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o.

Jalang’o is the surprise guest in the show that according to Beverly Wangari, NRG Director of Communications, will feature a bevvy of top African stars.

"Betty will be hosting the event this week with another colleague, and we shall have a lineup of African artistes performing as well... We pay rent for some of our audience owing to the fact that these are hard times. We have giveaways like phones and gas cylinders which come in handy during these difficult times,” said Wangari.

According to the director, the virtual concert was to raise money for the African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) Health Africa’s Covid-19 response fund.

"The goal of the virtual concert is to raise money for AMREF's Covid-19 Crisis Response fund while keeping Africa entertained and raising awareness on Covid-19 prevention measures," she detailed.

Away from the virtual concert, Kyallo, on her part seems to be making boss moves, days after exiting Mediamax owned TV station, K24.

Speaking prior to the concerts last episode that featured Nyashinki, Tanasha Donna, Gilad, Arrow Bwoy, Alternate Sound, Lulu Diva, Uganda’s Bebe Cool and Jose Chameleone as well as Joe Boy from Nigeria, she revealed through her Instagram account that she was excited about her new venture.

"It’s about to go down when I'm in charge of the microphone! See you tomorrow night 10 p.m. as I host the biggest virtual concert in Africa, We Are One Africa Concert. I am excited and looking forward to seeing you on YouTube and Instagram," she posted.

Focusing on building her social media presence with her YouTube show dubbed Betty Kyallo Lately, she, in one of the episodes, revealed that she is moving her beauty salon 'Flair by Betty' to a much bigger space.

The beauty explained that when she went to the previous location of her salon at FCB Mirhab, her clients complained it was smaller than Posh Palace, and although it hurt, it gave her motivation to go bigger.

“Thank you, God. My father, ou are amazing… I had to show you guys,” she said, urging her customers to give just a few more days to finish renovating her new place.

The concert was six days live-streamed in various African countries and hosted by NRG radio studios in partnership with AMREF Health Africa and Choice FM.

That is not all. She, a few days ago, acquired a white 2019 Porsche Cayenne SUV which is believed to have cost her $66,750 (Sh7.1 million), including a Sh111, 457 ($1,050) destination charge.

“Gotta move differently if you want different! Another one is home! This time white,” she posted.
