Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are officially single and ready to mingle - following a special ruling before their divorce is finalised.

There may be more work to be done on the fine details of their legal separation that will make the divorce final but, for now, Angelina and Brad can start checking out the other fish in the sea.

Los Angeles Superior Court documents show that Judge John W Ouderkirk entered a judgment on Friday, saying the couple are no longer married.

Angeline has also had her name restored to just Jolie, not Jolie Pitt.

The couple's lawyers had asked for a bifurcated judgment, meaning that two married people can be declared single before all issues in the divorce are agreed upon.

It is not clear what issues remain unresolved in the divorce, but Jolie has filed papers saying Pitt was not paying sufficient child support, which his lawyers disputed.

This comes after Angelina reportedly wanted to get back with Brad and "be a family again".

The actress had apparently done a shock u-turn and told her ex she wanted to give their marriage another go.

However, sources told The Sun that he's not keen but is desperate to keep things amicable for the sake of the kids.

“Angelina has made it clear to Brad that she wants to be back in a relationship with him. She would like them to be a family again and doesn’t seem capable of moving on," the insider told the publication.

Furthermore, it's claimed that's the reason why she's apparently dragging her feet in their less than amicable divorce.

"That’s why she is making it so difficult for Brad with every detail of their divorce. Brad has consistently kept his mouth shut because all he cares about is his kids.

The 43-year-old Jolie and the 55-year-old Pitt have six children. They were married in 2014, and Jolie filed for divorce in 2016.
