Tenants at the Airgate Centre, formerly Taj Mall have been issued with a 14-day notice to vacate the premises.
Through a public notice seen by SDE, M.A Nyakiongora, Chairman of the Multi-sectoral committee on unsafe structures gave the owners a notice to remove the illegal structure by 30th August.
According to Nyakiongera, the mall “has encroached on the road reserve and wayleave hindering the continuance of construction of Outering Road.”

This comes under a week after Southend Mall, which sits on a river bed just opposite T-Mall along the Mbagathi and Lang’ata Road junction was also brought down under instructions from the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA).
The building worth over Sh2 billion was not spared in the exercise that also saw Ukay Mall located in Westlands get demolished by NEMA as it moves to reclaim riparian land.

Wangare was released after posting a Sh80, 000 cash bail.
