If you are an average Kenyan living somewhere along Thika Road, Ruai or Kitengela, then airing your private life to the world is the last thing on your mind. Actually, posting any photos online is just plain odd.

Yours is a calm, boring, not-much-happening kind of life.

Well, nobody cares anyway and maybe the only photos you can proudly share are of you chewing on mbuzi ribs during Christmas or attending a pal’s pre-wedding party in a smoky joint in Embakasi, drowning in cans of Guarana!

Such boring pictures will hardly attract any ‘hits’ if posted on social media, specifically, Instagram.

But, this is not the case for the rich kids of Instagram, who keep us posted on every detail of their flashy lives.

Scrolling through their snaps may be a little torturous for ordinary folks.

These kids know how to splurge, from cruising in luxury cars, drinking expensive champagne, adventures in very beautiful and exotic locations, dining in exclusive beachside restaurants, kicking back in private, million-dollar yachts to showing up in star-studded parties. They’ve got it all. And they lay it bare on Instragarm.

While an average odiero will be excited to post holiday pictures of fun time on Dunga Beach, these kids’ scripts are the stuff of fantasy.

They spend their nights in presidential suites of five-star hotels and wake up to Tomino cheese or crispy leek risotto. Then they while the rest of the day lounging on luxurious yachts.

Everyday, they document their self-indulgent experiences and jaw-dropping purchases for the rest of the world to see. And they make no apologies to make. Why should they anyway?

Take Anerlisa Muigai for instance, daughter to Keroche Breweries CEO Tabitha Karanja. Her Instagram photos shout ‘glamour!’ It’s speaks of a life most people can just imagine. The over 400,000 followers she has are testament of how many people are fascinated by the escapades of the rich. Ironically, she follows only five people.

Though reserved, she has not been shy to show her money.

Some time back, she posted a photo of her newest Birkin handbag made of alligator skin that cost her almost Sh4 million (£25,000).

Then she listed her dreams as, among others, travelling in a $35,000,000 (Sh3.5 billion) private jet.

“My wish list is to be a role model, be like TK* (mum), to buy my dad a Rolex, to stay in Iniala beach house in Thailand, ride in a Bugatti and travel on the Dassault Falcon 900 private jet. Instagram followers will see if any comes true,” she wrote back in the day.

Former Kiambu County governor’s son, Alvin Kabogo Kiarie, is another rich kid who is not shy of sharing a bit of his private life.

Alvin, floods his Instagram account with photos of himself partying abroad and cruising in luxury yachts.

He leads an A-lister’s life shuttling across Europe.

There is a time The Nairobian spotted Alvin at Mercury at ABC Place on Waiyaki Way.

Also known as Kabogo Junior, he was hanging out with a bunch of high-rolling dudes and babes, taking photos for Instagram and sipping expensive drinks.

Kabogo Junior’s videos and photos are enough to launch Kenya’s first ever ‘rich kids’ reality show!

The Nairobian grabbed a screenshot of Alvin posts, including one about a Sh600,000 Dubai holiday getaway.

“Dubai sounds like a plan yallah tell daddy “moneybags” to get you a ticket lol @kabogojnr,” it read the post.

We snooped further and bumped into a photo of Alvin with a Caucasian woman going by the name Elena.

Alvin describes the woman as the ‘most beautiful gift ever.’ In other posts, he is seen having drinks with some white friends.

Mike Sonko’s daughters are also in the bandwagon.

Salma and Saumu have treated us to their luxurious lives before. It was through Instagram that Saumu revealed that she is entitled to a monthly allowance of Sh60,000, which she uses to shop, party and treat friends.

She has also travelled the world to destinations such as London, Turkey, Dubai, South Africa, India and China, and made sure we all got a peek into her travels.

Needless to say, with an allowance larger than many people’s salaries, her life is quite a premium.
