Tanzania’s Yamoto band in Kenya for a collaboration with Ethiopia’s Lij Michael

East Africa’s  fast rising group Yamoto Band are in the country for their debut Coke Studio recording season 4 alongside renowned Ethiopian artist  Lij Michael.

Yamoto Band comprising of four young talented Tanzanian artistes  Dogo Aslay, Maromboso, Enock Bella and Beka famed for Yamoto and Nitajuta hit songs will be joining Lij Michael - another first timer famed for the song Zaraye yehun nege.

Speaking to SDE on their grand debut, Enock Bella of Yamoto Band said: “I appreciate Coke Studio Africa for believing in us by giving us an opportunity to feature on the show, and showcase our music at this early stage of our musical career. We are ecstatic to work with Lij Michael and looking forward to fusing bongo flava with genres from Ethiopia.”

 “The studio and production is at a larger scale than anything we have ever worked on before and for that we are excited, added Bella.

They will be taking the Coca-Cola Facebook Page Live today as they unleash their much awaited collaboration songs produced by France-based producer DSK comprising seamless sounds of Bongo and the best  of Ethiopian hip hop.

During the show they will also respond to questions on their musical journey.

 Lij Michael also praised Coke Studio Africa citing that the music and cultural exchange between him and Yamoto Band has been amazing.

DSK will be on the show this season to engineer music fusions from various top African artistes selected from more than 11 countries including  Madtraxx (Kenya), Bushingtone (Uganda), Masterkraft (Nigeria), Chopstix (Nigeria) and Maphorisa (South Africa).
