Listening to pop star Rihanna can ease children’s pain after major surgery, a study reveals.
Young patients who listened to 30 minutes of hits by Rihanna, Taylor Swift and other favourites had a significant reduction in pain, the research at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago found.
Report author Dr Santhanam Suresh said: “Audio therapy should be considered by hospitals as an important strategy to minimise pain in children undergoing major surgery.”
Youngsters, aged nine to 14, chose from a playlist of music, including pop, country, rock and classical.
