Azimio vows to release 'dossier' on August poll

Azimio leaders claim they have more revelations on the handling of the August 9, 2022 General Election.

Addressing the Press in Nairobi yesterday, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka said revelations of an anonymous whistle-blower cast doubt on the credibility of the polls.

"The data released by the whistle-blower is a bombshell that compels every Kenyan of goodwill to ask themselves if indeed we still have a democracy," said Kalonzo, who was accompanied by Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni and other Azimio leaders.

"There are more revelations in our possession that will unearth the filth in the 2022 General Election," he added.

On Wednesday, the Azimio team led by Kioni said an Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) whistle-blower came forward with evidence of fraud and manipulation, a new twist to the endless allegations of electoral fraud from across the political divide.

The whistle-blower claimed that under the direction of the IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati, commissioners Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu and CEO Marjan Hussein, IEBC provided fabricated information to the Kenyans.

The whistleblower alleged that Azimio leader Raila Odinga won with 8,170,353 votes representing 57.3 per cent of the votes while William Ruto of UDA garnered 5,915,973 accounting for 41.66 per cent.

Kioni had argued that the election results don't add up considering the work the Azimio team from Mt Kenya put in to secure Raila victory.

"We did so much within Mt Kenya and it was unbelievable to be told that Raila got only 800,000 votes from our region," he said Kioni.

The Jubilee Secretary General argues that it is their responsibility to ensure they get to the bottom of what transpired during the counting and verification of votes.

The Azimio team claimed the whistle-blower is a current employee of the commission and has chosen to remain anonymous for fear of retribution.

"According to Azimio, the data calls into question the outcome of the presidential elections and the credibility and legitimacy of our entire electoral system and infrastructure," said Kalonzo.

Karua called for a forensic audit of the IEBC server arguing that evidence of fraud lies in activities orchestrated therein.

"This information reinforces what we already knew and gives us access to documents that we were denied when access to the server was not granted," said Karua.

Last year, the supplier of voting technology used in the election declined to open the national tallying centre (NTC) servers, citing security issues and possible infringement to its intellectual property rights.

The whistleblower claims that more than 1000 unauthorised users were given remote access or full access allowing them to edit JPEG Forms 34B using Microsoft Word or other programs before converting them back to PNG or PDF and uploading them to the public portal.

Kalonzo said Azimio members are currently going through the evidence and on Raila's arrival from a trip abroad, they will issue a collective statement.
