Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has told the court he has never met the businessman who took him to court for refusing to pay Sh500,000.

Appearing before Kakamega Small Claims Court adjudicator Gladys Kiama Nashipai, the MP said he knew of Kakamega businesam Robert Lutta the day he deposited some Sh500,000 in his Mumias KCB account last year December.

"When I inquired I learnt that he was paying a debt, my debt. I had actually loaned my political advisor Bernard Kemba Sh1 million which he apparently loaned to Lutta. Instead of Lutta repaying the debt to him he paid it to my account since I was the key lender," he said in a virtual court session.

Asked to produce paperwork for the Sh1 million transaction or to show Kemba was his employee Salasya said "I have none."

Prodded further by the court on whether it was inconceivable to give such a huge amount to a person in cash, Salasya said, "Yes, it is inconceivable."

The court will deliver a judgment on November 27.
