Iconic Congolese singer Koffi Olomide is set to perform in Kenya this December and has called on his fans to show up in large numbers for the event.

Through his socials, the Mwinda hitmaker said he was looking forward to visiting the country, having been away for some years.

"Mopao is coming to Nairobi on the 8th and 9th of December. It will be hot, I will be returning to Kenya after many years. I missed them for a long time. I want to show you the depth of my love.

"Everyone, young people, women and men, come and join me in the live show between the 8th and 9th of December, Nairobi. Mopao is returning to Kenya, I love them," he finished.

Koffi has been a fan-favourite among Kenyans although a 2016 incident almost damaged this relationship.

At the time, he was caught on camera kicking one of his female dancers at JKIA and he was subsequently deported.

Olomide denied any wrongdoing, claiming he was protecting his troupe from an unspecified person who was threatening their security.

Four years later in 2020, Mopao apologised to Kenyans and admitted that he erred, thanking the Kenyan government for reintegrating him.

"I am sincerely sorry for what I did. To everybody who was affected by what I did, I apologize. I want to thank the Kenyan government for endorsing me back. I missed Kenya so much, the country of my life," he said at the time.

Koffi is regarded by many as one of the best in his craft and has remained relevant for decades.

In recent years, he has teamed up with modern-day stars like Bongo artiste Diamond and their collabos have been instant hits.

His unique sense of style and deep voice have also endeared him to fans as he seems to reinvent himself constantly.
